Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward is a puzzle video game developed by Zero Escape, a connection between the company Chunsoft and publisher Aksys Games. It was first released for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita handheld game consoles on March 24, 2012 in North America; on October 23, 2012 in Japan; and on February 28, 2013 in Europe. Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward is the second game in the Zero Escape series, being a sequel to the game Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward was followed by Zero Time Dilemma .
Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward is an adventure game that has point-and-click elements of visual novel genres, where the player assumes the role of Sigma in 9 hours to stop Zero from forcing all 96 participants of a prison game called the Nonary Game: Ambidex Edition. As with its predecessor, Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward follows multiple protagonists Sigma Klim and Phi who work together to solve puzzles and escape. Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward is split into two parts: the prologue and nine “Fragments”. The first part is divided further, where Sigma must explore Deep Thoughts (a Deep Dream) to find passwords for the second part of the game.
