Yiruma is a South Korean composer and classical pianist. Yiruma’s music combines elements of jazz, blues and traditional Korean musical styles; some pieces incorporate ambient, techno and trip-hop elements. Yiruma has sold over 4 million CDs in Asia alone. Yiruma’s pieces have been featured in television commercials for companies such as KFC, Mitsubishi, Onitsuka Tiger Co., Coca-Cola and Canon Inc. Yiruma’s album First Love sold 500,000 copies worldwide. Yiruma is the first and only pianist to have four albums on Japanese charts simultaneously. Yiruma’s album Love Scene has sold 500,000 copies worldwide as of late 2005.

Yiruma’s music was used in a 2006 Mitsubishi ad in Britain. Yiruma also wrote the theme song for SBS-TV’s YoonSeo couple series (starring Yoon Se-ah and Yoon Kye Sang), called “The One I Love”. Yiruma composed the music for the 2006 movie, My Little Bride.

Yiruma has performed in many countries including France, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Singapore and on Japanese television. Yiruma was the first classical and Asian artist to perform at the famed Herbst Theater in San Francisco, California on September 22, 2004. Yiruma also performed as a guest performer for the Sharp’s worldwide computer exhibition in 2005 Yiruma has composed over 100 songs including First Love, River Flows in You (#1 United World Charts for 6 weeks in 2001), and Love Scene Yiruma has also worked with Yoo Hee-yeol of YB on a single.
