Vanessa Anne Carlton (born August 16, 1980) is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. Upon completion of her education at the School of American Ballet, Carlton chose to pursue a career in music instead of dance. She signed with A&M Records in 2000 and released her debut album, Vanessa Carlton, which produced the hit single “A Thousand Miles”. Her second album, Harmonium, was released in 2004. Her third album, Heroes and Thieves, was released in 2007. Vanessa Carlton’s fourth album, Rabbits on the Run, was released in 2011.
