– Undertale, originally released for PC on September 15, 2015, is an indie role-playing game created by American composer Toby Fox. Undertale’s story focuses on a human boy who falls into the monster-controlled underworld where he encounters various monsters and becomes involved in solving the problems at the core of each character’s motive, leading to events that often bring the characters into conflict. Undertale’s gameplay is comparable to that of classic RPGs in which players explore and engage in combat with enemies in a form of turn-based combat, but Undertale also uses unique features such as load times during enemy turns and a talking system that allows players to befriend certain monsters for additional benefits or optional boss fights. Undertale’s dialogue contains a significant amount of fourth-wall breaking and humorous dark humor. Undertale was originally produced for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Undertale soundtrack consists primarily of chiptune pieces composed by Undertale’s creator Toby Fox as well as small contributions from other artists such as Malcolm Brown, GENTLE LOVE, and Michael Kelly. Undertale was awarded Undertale for Best Soundtrack at the 2016 Game Awards.
