The Police is an English rock band formed in London in 1977. The Police were at the forefront of the new wave music movement, which they popularized along with other new romantic bands such as Duran Duran, The Human League and Culture Club. The group consisted of Sting (vocals, bass), Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums). The band released five albums starting with their 1978 debut Outlandos d’Amour, through Zenyatta Mondatta (1980), Ghost in the Machine (1981), Synchronicity (1983) and The Police (2006).
