Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed action adventure platform video game, released on the Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in 1992. It was developed by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Productions and published by Konami under their Ultra Games brand.
The game’s plot is based around Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project, and includes three additional stages based on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic books.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are working as fortune hunters aboard a luxury cruise ship anchored off the coast of New York City. Suddenly, the Shredder appears out of nowhere and points to his latest invention: a time displacement machine.
He activates the machine and an energy surge knocks everyone aboard to the deck of the ship. As they recover, Shredder points out to them that he has sent three Mousers into the past: one back to 1609, another to 1945 and finally one into a period just after World War II where atomic bombs were in the process of being developed. Shredder then escapes in a dark alley and Mikey and Leatherhead follow him while Raph watches the time machine.
