Tales of Symphonia is a role-playing game developed by Namco Tales Studio and published by Namco in Japan on August 29, 2003 for the Nintendo GameCube and later in 2004 for the PlayStation 2. The game has eight playable characters and takes place on a fictional world called Sylvarant; it features themes of love, betrayal, and friendship.
The opening of Tales of Symphonia , entitled “To a Far Away Land”, was performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and is listed as track 1 on both versions’ soundtrack CDs. The song plays at key moments in the story, such as during the scene of Lloyd’s confession to Colette . In addition, various arrangements of “To a Far Away Land” also play during the many skits in Tales of Symphonia . The song is also arranged for Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World , Tales of Xillia and Tales of Xillia 2 by Go Shiina.
The opening sequence that begins with “To a Far Away Land” was added in Tales of Destiny and Tales of Eternia , but not used on the soundtrack release.
