Super Smash Bros. Melee (often referred to as Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. MeLEE, SuperSmashBrosMelee, SSBM , or shortened to SSBM or Melee ) is a 2D fighting game released for the GameCube on November 21, 2001 in North America and May 24, 2002 in Europe
.
One of Super Smash Bros. Melee’s most famous songs is Flat Zone, composed by Hirokazu Ando. The song was originally an April Fools joke for Super Smash Bros., but it was later added as a unlockable stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Flat Zone is located at the Underworld, which hosts a Super Smash Bros. Melee-style “underground” theme, where there are some unusual elements for a typical fighting stage. Specifically, the main platform is slanted and moves up and down erratically from side to side.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl , Flat Zone 2 was the only new stage on the box art, along with Mario, Link, Kirby and Donkey Kong. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U , Super Smash Bros. Melee’s Flat Zone is the only stage from Super Smash Bros. Melee that appears in Super Smash Bros. 4 .
The music in Flat Zone is always a remix of the original Super Smash Bros – “Flat Zone”. It was remixed into Super Smash Bros. Melee – “Flat Zone Remix” and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U Super Smash Bros. for Wii U – “Wii Flat Zone X”.
