StarTropics was released in 1990 by Nintendo. StarTropics is an example of a game that combines both sides-scrolling action elements and puzzle solving aspects. StarTropics takes place on the fictional Zoda’s Island, where Mike (the main protagonist) is abducted by Alien forces. StarTropics has many notable features, such as a unique battle system, an RPG-like quest system and a world map. StarTropics was produced by Nintendo’s Research and Development Team#1, who also worked on Metroid, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Punchout!, Dr. Mario, Star Fox and Star Fox 2. StarTropics was developed under the name “C³”. StarTropics’s music was composed by Kōji Kondō, a freelance video game musician. StarTropics is known for having some of the best music on its original Game Boy system. StarTropics has been described as being both extremely challenging and extremely good looking for an 8 bit handheld console. StarTropics is considered to be a classic and has been compared to games such as Metroid and the Legend of Zelda. StarTropics is mainly set on Zoda’s Island, which has many different areas – one area being Star Lake. Star Lake is where Mike (the main protagonist) visits in StarTropics when he is trying to get information from Star Lake’s inhabitants about his missing Uncle.
