Shania Twain was born on August 28, 1965 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Shania is the stage name of Shani Lynn [Rice] , a very popular singer and song writer who has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide since 1993. Shania is also a producer, actress and occasional businesswoman. Shania’s earliest musical influences came from her father, who used to listen to country music. Shania started writing songs at the age of four and taught herself how to play guitar while she was ten years old Shania made her first public appearance singing in a hotel lounge during a family vacation when she was nine. Shania released her self-titled album Shania Twain in 1993 and recorded a duet with her husband “The Dance” in 1995. Shania is married to Robert John “Mutt” Lange, the producer of Shania’s first four albums. Shania previously filed for divorce in August 2008, but withdrew it three months later. Shania has sold more than 80 million records worldwide, making Shania the highest selling female country artist in history. Shania Twain’s albums include Shania Twain , The Woman In Me , Come On Over , Up! , and Now . Shania has won five Grammys for best country song and best-female country vocal performance. Shania has also been nominated for 16 additional Grammy awards.
