This is the leading-off single from his new album “Reality Killed the Video Star” which Robbie announced on “Friday Night with Jonathan Ross” on November 2. Robbie said of the song,
It sounds like a Robbie Williams single – but then it doesn’t sound like Robbie Williams at all either. It’s something out of left field that I don’t think people will be expecting. It’s kind of Robbie Williams-esque, but then again it’s not Robbie Williams at all.
Released in the UK on November 10 Robbie will be taking his new record out on tour in February 2009. Robbie said that he was excited about touring because he “can’t take the piss any more” and has to prove himself worthy once again with his new material. Robbie also said that he is unsure if this single will be a one-off, it could well be the first of many Robbie Williams releases. Robbie feels more confident in his song writing abilities now, Robbie said “I feel like I’ve got something to say again”. He joked that while on tour with Take That he had nothing to say “other than, Robbie loves Gary”. Robbie has worked with Guy Chambers for this single. Robbie said that they would often speak about what it’s like at Robbie’s house, trying to recapture the old magic of the two-way creative relationship. Robbie described working with Guy as very scary because before now they were known as writing partners rather than friends. Robbie said, “We’d known each other for so long and had done so much together, but this is the first time we’ve ever actually written a song together”.
