The Red Hot Chilli Peppers (often shortened to the Red Hot Chili Peppers or abbreviated as RHCP) are an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1983.    They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.  Red Hot Chili Peppers’ sound is a fusion of funk, alternative rock , rap metal and alternative metal . The band’s influences include Funkadelic , Parliament-Funkadelic , Jimi Hendrix , James Brown, Gang of Four , Sly & the Family Stone , Fear, Neurosis , Thin Lizzy , Fishbone and the Meters among others.  Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of the best-selling bands of all time with over 80 million records sold worldwide,  they have been listed as one of twelve artists who most influenced the music during the past twenty years.  Red Hot Chilli Peppers’s breakthrough album , Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991), was a critical and commercial success, selling over seven million copies in the United States and establishing Red Hot Chili Peppers as one of the most popular rock bands of the 1990s.  “Under the Bridge” is a song by Red Hot Chili Peppers from their second album , Freaky Styley (1985). It is a melodic ballad, written by vocalist Anthony Kiedis about his drug abuse and hometown. The first line of the song is a reference to the city of Los Angeles, California: “I don’t ever want to feel like I did that day”, referring to the day when Kiedis was addicted to heroin and drove over the Harbor Boulevard bridge in a desperate search for drugs.  Red Hot Chilli Peppers recorded two studio albums with guitarist John Frusciante from 1998 to 2006,     marked marked a significant departure from their earlier sound, incorporating experimental elements ranging from Minimalis to new wave .  Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ album, Stadium Arcadium (2006), became their first number-one selling album.  It was followed by a world tour that lasted into 2007.  In addition to I’m With You and the EP , I’m Beside You , Red Hot Chili Peppers have released five live albums and fifteen studio albums as of 2013, their latest studio album, The Getaway (2016), debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart. Red Hot Chilli Peppers has sold over 80 million records worldwide and were ranked at number 82 on VH1 ‘s “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”.  Red Hot Chilli Peppers ranked thirty-one on VH1’s “Greatest Hard Rock Artists of All Time”.  Red Hot Chili Peppers are considered to be one of the greatest live rock bands.  The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ original line-up, originally called Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem, was formed by Anthony Kiedis, Hillel Slovak, Flea, and Jack Irons while they attended Fairfax High School in Los Angeles.
