About the Pokémon Diamond Version & Pokémon Pearl Version : Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl are the first paired versions of Generation IV.

The Pokémon games Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl were released in Japan on September 28, 2006. They were released in North America on April 22, 2007, and were released in Australia and Europe on May 22 and 29, respectively. Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl were developed by Game Freak, published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo DS.

The Pokémon games Pokémon Diamond Version & Pokémon Pearl Version are direct sequels to each other’s stories. They both star a Pokémon Trainer who begins their adventure in Twinleaf Town, and go on to experience three different childhoods as they travel across the region of Sinnoh. Pokémon Diamond Version & Pokémon Pearl Version are set in the Pokémon universe; however, unlike previous games, it is not limited to the Pokémon introduced up until Generation III. New features include a revamped UI, online connectivity, the new Pokémon Contests and two new Pokémon types.

In particular, the paired versions were praised, with Pokémon Diamond Version receiving a slightly higher score due to slightly more Pokémon available to catch during the first playthrough. Pokémon Diamond Version & Pokémon Pearl Version each sold over 1 million copies within their first two days on sale, with over 7 million copies sold worldwide throughout 2007.

Pokémon Diamond Version & Pokémon Pearl Version are the only paired versions where Pokémon evolve through two different methods, Evolution by level to at least Lv. 30 or with a held item. Pokémon that don’t evolve in other paired versions have evolutions introduced in Pokémon Platinum.
