Today, Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version will be released in Japan. Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version are the first Pokémon games to be on the Nintendo DS, rather than any of Nintendo’s competitors’ consoles (such as the PlayStation), since Pokémon Gold and Silver Versions six years ago for the Game Boy Color.
As with all Pokémon games, Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version are role-playing games. Players control a young Pokémon Trainer who begins the journey by running errands for the citizens of his hometown. The player meets his rival early on, and is given one Pokémon to begin with; he then sets out on an adventure across Unova to complete his Pokédex, a comprehensive Pokémon encyclopedia. This is not the first Pokémon game to take place in the Isshu region, as Pokémon Musicals 3: Donaisu no Do! , Pokémon Trozei!: Eternal Memories , Pokémon Dash : Kabutore , Pokémon Ranger – the Comic: Double Mission , and Pokémon Memory Link take place in this region.
A new feature introduced in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version is that Unova’s Pokémon League Pokémon are now the first Pokémon in their evolutionary chains, rather than the last. For example, Unova’s Pokémon League starter Pokémon is Samurott (Oshawott’s final evolution), and its dragon legendary is Hydreigon (a pseudo-legendary).
The game features multiplayer battles much like Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version , Pokémon Platinum Version , Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version did.
Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version will be released in Japan on September 18th, 2010, one week before their American release date of October 7th, 2010.
