Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is a video game series in which the player takes on the role of Phoenix Wright, an attorney who defends his clients “in gameplay by presenting evidence to contradict prosecution witnesses’ claims.

The Phoenix Wright series began development in 1993 under the working title of Grumpf  by Shu Takumi, who had just finished directing the first game in the Ace Attorney series. After positive fan response to an early Game Boy Advance demo at 2003’s Tokyo Game Show, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney was announced in the September 2003 issue of Famitsu  magazine.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney was ported to Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy in 2012 for the Nintendo eShop. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy  was also later ported as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy HD  for iOS and Android mobile devices in 2013.
