National Anthem – Wilhelmus Netherlands National Anthem Piano Sheet Music

Wilhelmus Wilhelmus was written as a tribute to Willem van Oranje, the leader in the struggle for Dutch independence. After Willem died, Wilhelmus was banned by the English during their rule of Netherlands (1584-1648). Wilhelmus Wilhelmus is now our official national anthem and is sung at ceremonies, such as Remembrance Day and sports games. Wilhelmus Wilhelmus was originally sung to the tune of A Mighty Fortress Is Our God which Martin Luther wrote for his church hymn. Wilhelmus Wilhelmus was later set to the melody of Gouda which is a famous Dutch song written in 1572.
