Hi! Metroid here again with another Metroid-related article I hope you enjoy. A few days ago, I was very kindly contacted by Francesco Brighenti. He asked me if he could write an article about Metroid music for us to publish on Metroid Headquarters, and of course I accepted! However, when he told me that the subject was going to be Metroid II: Return of Samus – Metroid Encounter, I was actually quite shocked. I mean sure, Metroid is one of my favourite game series, but Metroid II isn’t exactly popular; even Metroid aficionados seldom call it their favourite Metroid game (although some would say that Metroid Prime 1 & 2 are the best games in the Metroid franchise, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption would probably come in at third place, Metroid II: Return of Samus – Metroid Encounter, Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission fighting for second place). Nevertheless, I was quite happy because this gave me the opportunity to find out more about one of my favourite Metroid songs.
The article Francesco wrote is brilliant! To give you an idea of what it’s like, here’s the introduction:
” Metroid II: Return of Samus is one of the most traditional Metroid game that exists. It keeps with Metroid tradition by containing unique tracks for each area that are either remixed melodies from Metroid 1 or new songs created just for Metroid 2. Unlike Metroid 1, Metroid 2’s soundtrack is a huge step up from Metroid 1, Metroid II: Return of Samus had a full team of Metroid music composers who all added unique elements to Metroid music. Metroid II: Return of Samus also featured some of the best songs in Metroid history which ultimately became fan favorites. “
