“Kirby Super Star” is Kirby’s sixteenth title and was developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1996. Kirby Super Star features Kirby, a pink puffball who can inhale enemies and absorb their powers, as he wanders around Dream Land on the planet Popstar. Kirby eventually comes into contact with a being from another planet, known as Meta Knight. Kirby’s nemesis King Dedede has stolen a treasure chest from Meta Knight and Kirby is tasked to find it. Kirby eventually finds the thief and the location of the chest: a castle statue. Kirby retrieves it but finds himself caught by two Waddle Dee guards who hold Kirby in his place until the statue returns to the castle. Kirby then makes his appearance in “Kirby Super Star’s” first subgame, Spring Breeze. Kirby is tricked into thinking that King Dedede has stolen all the food from Dream Land so Kirby decides to fight against Dedede and prove himself as a hero. Kirby does this by traveling through Kirby Super Star’s Kirby History. Kirby eventually defeats King Dedede and the Waddle Dees eat all of Dream Land’s food. Kirby then decides to travel through Dedede’s castle in search of Dedede’s treasure chest, which Kirby found earlier in the game. Kirby defeats Meta Knight before he can achieve his goal, Kirby then defeats King Dedede and takes the chest for himself. Kirby then opens the chest only to find that there was no treasure inside. Kirby then chases after several Waddle Dees who are carrying Dedede on top of a cake to his castle.
