Background information about the author: Yoko Shimomura is a Japanese video game composer, best known for her work on Nintendo’s Kingdom Hearts series of games.

She was born in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan on March 19th, 1967. Growing up she loved the music of western artists, with her favorite being Elton John, but she also loved Japanese music. Her inspirations are Nobuo Uematsu and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
