First, a little back story…
I was looking for Kingdom Hearts sheet music online, and I found an English version of this song on another site. Unfortunately, the preview on the page only shows the first five notes (at least on Firefox) so it’s impossible to guess what type of piece it is by listening to it. This made me ask two things:
1) What type of song is Kingdom Hearts – Neverland Sky?
2) Does this sheet music follow the original Kingdom Hearts – Neverland Sky animation sequence or does it stray from the original piece?
Well, after a couple of hours and a few tests, I was able to find where each note landed. From there, I wrote an entire Kingdom Hearts – Neverland Sky song in order to have the sheet music ready for all Kingdom Hearts players. While it’s not exact, there are only a few differences between this animation sequence and the sheet music that was written. The original Kingdom Hearts – Neverland Sky is set at 7/8 while this Kingdom Hearts – Neverland Sky is set in 6/8.
Just FYI, Kingdom Hearts – Neverland Sky was originally composed by Yoko Shimomura and it’s the eleventh track on Kingdom Hearts II Original Soundtrack album. Kingdom Hearts – Neverland Sky starts out with clapping sounds followed by an african tribal dance rhythm. This Kingdom Hearts – Neverland Sky piece continues on with a dark, yet energetic theme for most of the song. Kingdom Hearts – Neverland Sky is also one of the few Kingdom Hearts songs to have lyrics in both english and japanese languages.
