Katie Melua – My Aphrodisiac Is You
Katie Melua is an English singer-songwriter. She was born in the Soviet Union but her family moved to Northern Ireland when she was five years old. Katie’s debut album, Call Off The Search , was released in February 2004 and since then Katie has been nominated for BRIT Awards, Q Awards and MOBO Awards. Katie’s second album, Piece By Piece, entered the albums chart at number two in September 2005 and achieved Gold (100,000 units) status by the end of the year. Katie is a talented and versatile songwriter who loves writing upbeat pop songs like ‘I Cried For You’ and ‘On The Road Again’ and Katie is equally talented when it comes to writing powerful ballads such Katie wrote ‘The Closest Thing To Crazy’, which Katie admits means a lot to her. Katie’s songs are all about love and relationships – Katie finds this theme very easy and natural to write about, “I think it’s just because I’m young and I haven’t experienced many other things. I don’t want to write about anything that people can’t relate to. Love is something that everyone has experienced in one form or another.” Katie says ‘My Aphrodisiac Is You’ is a song about Katie’s own desires, “This song was written about the fantasy of me alone with my man on a desert island under the hot sun”. Katie also reveals, “I think it’s more sexually orientated than most of my songs.
