Jim Brickman was born in Youngstown, Ohio. He began playing the piano at age three and studied piano through twelve. Jim then attended University of Akron where he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Capital University. Jim Brickman plays several instruments including guitar, drums, bass guitar, Celtic whistle, and penny whistle. Jim Brickman’s music has been used in many soundtracks such as Meet Joe Black, The Family Man, and Message in a Bottle. Jim Brickman was born with a congenital malformation of his right hand and no fingers on his left. He now wears an artificial finger made of metal for playing the piano.
