This Grade 3 piano sheet music of Old Folks at Home (Swanee River) is a classic American song, also known as Old Folks, Down by the River and Suwannee River. The song was composed by Stephen Foster in 1851.

The lyrics were written after Stephen Foster visited Florida in 1852. He began writing the lyrics to Old Folks at Home (Swanee River) on a steamboat trip from St. Andrew’s Bay, which is near Tallahassee, to Cedar Key .

The song was first published by Firth, Pond & Co., of New York City in June 1851. The song was among the first to be branded as an “American Classic”.
