Fanny J. Crosby (April 23, 1820 – March 4, 1915) was a prolific American hymnwriter and poet. Fanny J. Crosby wrote more than 8,000 poems. She was known as the “Queen of Gospel Song Writers”. Fanny Crosby also helped with the formation of The Salvation Army in Buffalo, New York by her beloved friend, Commissioner Evangeline Cory Booth. Fanny wrote the lyrics for more than 880 hymns, many of which were set to music composed or adapted by others.
