–> Evanescence is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. Evanescence released their first demo album, ”Evanescence EP”, in 1995. Their debut single ”Bring Me to Life” helped the band become famous in 2002, reaching number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and also helped Evanescence get their first Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance. Their self-titled debut studio album was released in 2003, producing three more Grammy nominations for Evanescence. The second single ”My Immortal” became Evanescence’s first hit single in Brazil and set a record for the longest running song on U.S. radio at 59 weeks, landing Evanescence two more Grammy nominations. Evanescence’s second album, ”The Open Door”, was released in 2006 and fared much better than Evanescence’s debut album, reaching number one in five countries including Australia and the United States. The album spawned three singles ”Call Me When You’re Sober”, ”Lithium” and ”Sweet Sacrifice”.
