Chrono Trigger is a role-playing video game that was developed and published by Square. Chrono Trigger follows Chrono, an orphan who dreams of adventure, on his journey to save the world along with his friends Lucca, Marle, and later Frog. Chrono Trigger’s gameplay uses 2D characters arranged into battle grids where they fight turn based battles. Chrono Trigger was developed over the course of two years, beginning production in 1994 and having its official release on March 11th 1995. Commentary for Chrono Trigger has been featured in multiple video game publications such as Electronic Gaming Monthly and Game Informer. Chrono Trigger initially did not fare well commercially, but went on to mainly positive critical reception . Chrono Trigger continued to be praised for its multiple uses of time travel mechanics, including making choices that would affect future events in the game. Chrono Trigger was later re-released on the PlayStation, Nintendo DS and mobile phones. Chrono Trigger is often featured highly on most best video games ever lists.
