What Christmas Means to Me
by Carol Tornquist When I was a little girl, Christmas seemed full of magic. Curled up in front of the fireplace with my older brothers and sisters, I would listen spellbound as Father Christmas told his story – how he journeyed from house to house that night on his noble white steed, bringing us toys and Christmas cheer. How the Christmas tree glowed, and we kids crowded around to see if we had been good enough to deserve Christmas presents. Then Father Christmas would sprinkle us with Christmas snow and take his departure, while we hung over the fireplace, watching for his return trip across the sky on Christmas night. I loved that story so much that it became Christmas in my heart – Christmas with the warm glow of Christmas candles and Christmas lights, Christmas carols that celebrate the birth of the Christ Child, Christmas giving. I loved it all! As an adult, Christmas is more special than ever. I have had more wonderful opportunities to introduce young people to the magic of Christmas, both through my books about Christmas and my Christmas card designs.
