Chopin was born Fryderyk Chopin in the Duchy of Warsaw and grew up in Warsaw, which after 1815 became part of Congress Poland. Chop Chopin displayed his musical talents at an early age and gave his first public performance at the age of seven. During his formative years Chopin studied with some of Poland’s finest teachers, including his father and the noted composer Józef Elsner. Chopin had composed many works before he arrived at the age of twenty.
