Cecile Chaminade – Serenade Op.29 Dance Piano Sheet Music

Cecile Chaminade (October 29, 1857 – February 2, 1944) was a French composer who began her musical training at the Paris Conservatoire as a young girl, studying piano with Louis Diemer and theory with Édouard Batiste.

She also studied privately with Franz Liszt for two years, but after his death in 1886 she was refused admission to the composition classes at the Conservatoire by Jules Massenet, on grounds of her sex. Chaminade thus became one of a long line of female composers who were denied formal musical training because of their gender.
