Cecile Chaminade (1857-1944) was a French composer and pianist. She published her first composition when she was just 8 years old and debuted at the Paris Opera House when she was only 10 years old. She studied with some of the best teachers in Paris and was a very accomplished pianist, too. Cecile Chaminade was known for her “French style” music – she even wrote a ballet called “Les Sylphides,” inspired by the Chopin piece of the same name.
