Cecile Chaminade was a French composer and pianist who was born in Paris on December 8th, 1861. Cecile showed signs of musical talents from a young age, but her formal schooling did nothing to further those skills.
Starting in 1881 Cecile began to publish songs, eventually completing more than 100. She became an internationally recognized composer and pianist, traveling throughout Europe and America during her career.
Cecile Chaminade also composed symphonic works, some chamber music settings of poems by Verlaine, Offenbach operettas, cantatas, and sacred music. Cecile Chaminade died in Paris on December 4th, 1944.
