Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest – Monster Dance Piano Sheet Music

Last year Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest was released for the North American NES. It took me a while to figure out what made Castlevania II so different than Castlevania I, but when I got it, oh man did it make sense. Castlevania II feels like a totally different game from Castlevania I in a lot of ways. Castlevania II is a unique Castlevania game, and the music reflects that fact.

Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest was released in 1987 in Japan and 1988 in North America for the Famicom Disk System and Nintendo Entertainment System respectively. Castlevania II was developed by Konami but unlike Castlevania I, Castlevania II did not have a direct sequel. Castlevania II follows the story of Simon Belmont who has to defeat Dracula after he is resurrected by a group of cultists.

Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest was the first Castlevania title where the hero did not actually have to go through Dracula’s castle. Castlevania II consists of six different regions, one of which is located in Dracula’s castle. One main characteristic of Castlevania II’s gameplay is the fact that it has an RPG/adventure feel to it with an emphasis on exploration and solving puzzles. This unique Castlevania game provides a lot to talk about when it comes to Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest. Castlevania II is a Castlevania game where the music plays a major role in the gameplay and Castlevania fans would be remiss if they didn’t mention Castlevania II when talking about Castlevania music considering it has so many great songs.

Castlevania II features two songs that had Castlevania fans talking; the Lullaby for Tristis and Dance of Illusions. Castlevania II has an emphasis on exploration (especially in its castles) with some Castlevania elements like the whipping mechanic, items to collect, etc. Castlevania II also brought back the spell system from Castlevania . Castlevania II also put Castlevania in the RPG/adventure genre with an emphasis on puzzle solving ( Castlevania I did not have a big focus on that). Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest is quite unique and the music bears this out. Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest has some of Castlevania most innovative and memorable music and Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest – Monster Dance is one of Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest ‘s most innovative tracks.

Castlevania fans will be quick to mention the Lullaby for Tristis and Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest – Monster Dance when talking about Castlevania music.
