Ludwig Beethoven was a German composer and pianist. Beethoven is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time. His reputation opened many doors, and made Beethoven an important historical figure in music.
Beethoven originally named his Opus 39 set of piano preludes simply “Preludes”, Beethoven’s publisher, Tobias Haslinger, named them “Ouverturen”, which Beethoven accepted. Beethoven later republished the entire set under the title Beethoven originally gave it in 1839: “Preludes through all twelve major keys, Op. 39”.
