The Bartok Studies for Piano, Op.18 are a set of 18 pieces composed by Bela Bartok between 1926 and 1939 as an educational tool to increase the technique of pianists. Bartok composed them with the primary goal of increasing Bartok’s younger son’s technical prowess on the piano, but Bartok himself was also known to have undertaken Bartok – Studies for Piano, Op.18 as a kind of refresher and consolidating process while Bartok was in the midst of composing Bartok’s monumental Mikrokosmos series – Bartok’s magnum opus .
