Banjo-Kazooie is an action-adventure platforming game that features single and multi-player modes. Banjo and Kazooie must work together to complete the game’s challenges. Banjo, controlled by the player, must jump between gaps and avoid his enemies in order to collect musical notes (which function as lives), golden Banjo icons, extra Honeycomb pieces, and puzzle pieces which unlock new worlds when collected. Using Banjo’s ability to climb ledges and Kazooie’s ability to glide, Banjo can traverse previously inaccessible areas of the game. Banjo-Kazooie only allows Banjo and Kazooie to take one hit from an enemy or hazard before losing a life, though collecting extra lives within certain levels will earn the player an immediate extra life as a reward.
