The Banjo-Kazooie franchise follows the story of Banjo, a young honey bear, and his best friend Kazooie, a red breegull which lives in Banjo’s backpack. Banjo and Kazooie are inseparable, but Banjo also has a family as well as a small girlfriend named Tooty. Banjo’s sister is called Gruntilda Winkybunion, which along with her mother Brentilda is evil witch who Banjo thwarts on multiple occasions throughout the Banjo-Kazooie franchise. Banjo’s family live in a house made of wood and straw which Banjo is forced to use as his home during Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Banjo must defend his home from Gruntilda, who has returned from banishment to kidnap Tooty and destroy Banjo’s house. Banjoland is the Banjo-Kazooie equivalent of a theme park. The Banjoland complex contains many separate zones themed after Banjo and Kazooie’s best levels from all Banjo-Kazooie games. Banjoland is split into three zones: Banjo Land, Grunty Industries and Showdown Town. Banjo Land is Banjo and Kazooie’s house, Grunty Industries is a theme park based on Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts while Showdown Town is Banjoland’s central hub. Banjo Land has rides themed after Banjo and Kazooie’s best levels from all Banjo-Kazooie games. Banjo Land is the only zone in Banjoland which does not have a boss fight. Banjo and Kazooie face Gruntilda in Banjo Land, but their fight takes place in Showdown Town instead.
