Banjo-Kazooie – Freezeezy Peak Banjo-Kazooie is a platform game developed by Rare and originally released for the Nintendo 64 video game console in November 1998. It was later rereleased as Banjo-Tooie (2000), Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge (2003), Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (2008), Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts for Xbox One (2015) and Banjo-Kazooie: The Video Game in 2019. It follows the story of Banjo the bear, who is joined by Kazooie the bird in stopping Banjo’s nemesis, the evil witch Gruntilda from swapping Banjo’s sister Tooty for a younger and prettier form. It is the second instalment in the Banjo-Kazooie series and was developed by several people who would later establish companies such as Rare Ltd., Big Huge Games, People Can Fly, Banjo-Kazooie was published by Rareware for Nintendo 64, Microsoft Windows and Xbox Live Arcade. Banjo-Tooie’s release coincided with the release of Nintendo 64’s successor, the GameCube.
