Background notes: Banjo-Kazooie is an action-adventure platformer developed by Rare and originally released for the Nintendo 64 video game console in 1998. Set in the fictional Banjo-Kazooie world of Spiral Mountain, Banjo and his friend Kazooie must recover eight pieces of a jigsaw puzzle spread out through Gruntilda’s Lair, a vast network of tunnels underneath the Banjo’s home that serve as the lair for Banjo’s nemesis, Gruntilda. Banjo-Kazooie was rereleased for the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade in 2008; this version was ported to Microsoft Windows via Steam in April 2014.
The Click Clock Wood (Winter) level is set outside Banjo’s house during wintertime. Banjo, Kazooie and Mumbo Jumbo are outside Banjo’s house on a winter evening. During the level Banjo must collect four different colored pinecones and take them to their matching posts: blue, green, yellow and red.
Once all of the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle have been collected Banjo enters Grunty’s lair and defeats her, sending her falling down a bottomless pit. Banjo and Kazooie return to Banjo’s house the next morning, during springtime, where they find a note from Bottles saying that he had been called away for a mission in some remote part of the world.
