Alicia Keys is Alicia Augello Cook and she was born January 25, 1981. She is an American recording artist, musician, singer-songwriter, actress, producer and philanthropist.
She attained international fame with her debut album “Songs in A Minor”, which won five Grammy Awards in 2002. Her success continued with the follow-up album, “The Diary of Alicia Keys”, which spawned her first Billboard Hot 100 number-one single, “You Don’t Know My Name”, and earned her a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In 2009, she released her fourth studio album, “The Element of Freedom”. She became the first female artist to have an “Number One” album and “Number One” single on the Billboard 200 simultaneously, with her fifth studio album, Girl on Fire (2012). In late 2010, Keys released her first book, “Songs in A Minor”, which debuted at number-one on The New York Times Best Seller list.
