Aerosmith is an American rock band, sometimes referred to as “the Bad Boys from Boston” and “America’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band”. Their style, which is rooted in blues-based hard rock,[1] has come to also incorporate elements of pop, heavy metal, and rhythm and blues,[2] and has inspired many subsequent rock artists.
Formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970,[3] Aerosmith is the best-selling American hard rock band of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide,[4][5] including over 70 million records in the United States alone.[6][7] They also hold the record for the most gold and multi-platinum albums by an American group. The band has written numerous Top 40 hits, including 11 that hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
